Set in and around Chester, Hollyoaks is a ficticious suburb.

Hollyoaks has pushed the limits out on usual soap storylines, covering subjects such as teenage pregnancy, sexual abuse, drug abuse and even male rape.

Hollyoaks is devised and produced by Phil Redmond who quotes "Hollyoaks is about the two big issues in life - Who Am I? and Where Am I Going? Incorporating going out, listening to music, getting on and/or off with the opposite sex and enjoying yourself."
