Stefen Fangmeier's action-packed fantasy film is set in a medieval-like society ruled by the despotic Galbatorix, abetted by his henchman Durza. Galbatorix has exterminated the fabled Dragon Riders who threatened his reign, but a teenage boy, Eragon, discovers a surviving egg from which hatches the dragon Saphira.
Unable to control her as she grows, Eragon finds guidance from village layabout Brom, who reveals himself to be the last of the Dragon Riders. The three raise a rebel army to topple Galbatorix but, at the same time, Eragon and Saphira must rescue princess Arya from Galbatorix's evil clutches.
Eragon is a Film programme that first aired in 2006 and has been classified a PG certificate.
