The Outer Limits: The Inheritors

When a meteor explodes over the city, one of the tiny fireballs which rain down, fatally wounds Jacob Hardy whilst on a stroll with his fiancee. When the Medical examiner removes the small particle from Jacob's brain during the autopsy, they are shocked and bewildered at the consequences. It soon transpires that Jacob isn't the only one whom this has happened to, and the victims start creating a mysterious machine which could mean the end of the planet as we know it.
