Radio 3 in Concert: Summer Nights in Montpellier

Fiona Talkington presents one of the highlights of the summer festival season as mezzo Karine Deshayes joins the Orchestre National de Montpellier and conductor Michael Schonwandt in music by Berlioz, Horneman and Schoenberg. In this concert from the Montpelier Festival in the south of France, Deshayes sings Berlioz's songs of summer nights, wonders spring from Aladdin's lamp in a work by Danish composer Horneman, and love's intricacies and agonies are evoked by Schoenberg in his vast and voluptuous symphonic poem Pelléas and Mélisande.
