Radio 3 in Concert: Haydn and Mozart at Bath MozartfestSeries 1, episode 0As part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the BBC New Generation Artists scheme, Sarah Walker introduces a concert from the 2019 Bath Mozartfest at the city's Guildhall. Current NGAs the Aris Quartet play Haydn's Sunrise Quartet, so-called because of the evocative opening to its first movement. Reflecting the wealth of collaborative opportunities the scheme affords, horn player Alec Frank-Gemmill and violist Eivind Ringstad join forces with three members of the quartet for a tour de force performance of Mozart's Horn Quintet in E flat. Following the interval, the Aris Quartet are joined once again by Eivind Ringstad in a performance of one of Mozart's most profound and moving works for strings, the Quintet in G minor, K516.
