Radio 3 in Concert: City of London SinfoniaSeries 1, episode 0Nicola Heywood Thomas presents music performed by the City of London Sinfonia, as they're undertaking a nationwide tour of cathedrals. This October 2019 tour began in Southwark Cathedral, journeying on to the Worcester, Exeter, Bristol, Liverpool, Sheffield, Bradford, Llandaff and Lichfield. This concert takes place in Cornwall in Truro Cathedral, where members of the Cathedral Choir, alongside their director Christopher Gray, join forces with the City of London Sinfonia to perform a selection of contemporary works ranging from Tavener to Tabakova. The music is performed in different locations around the building, varying from the High Altar to the West end, and is an opportunity for listeners and audience members to enjoy the alternating spaces and sounds emanating from this Gothic Revival style cathedral in the heart of Cornwall.
