Radio 3 in Concert: Berlin Radio Symphony OrchestraSeries 1, episode 0Fiona Talkington presents Vladimir Jurowski conducting the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stravinsky and Schubert in a concert given at the Berlin Philharmonie in January. Stravinsky's Violin Concerto's witty side is mirrored in the composer's good-natured caricature of legendary impresario Sergei Diaghilev as an elephant in a china shop, which begins the concert. Schubert was not so lucky during his lifetime. It was only after his death that the Symphony in C was premiered by Mendelssohn, after Robert Schumann had found the manuscript at Schubert's brother's home. Stravinsky: Circus Polka; Violin Concerto. Schubert: Symphony No 9 in C, D 944.
