In this third chapter of the X-Men films, tension between humans and mutants is mounting, thanks to a government-funded "cure" for mutation. While many mutants think it's only a matter of time before the humans use it as a weapon, others see it as a way to suppress their freakish powers.
As protests gather strength and headlines predict violence, the X-Men learn that Dr Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) is alive... or rather her class-five alter-ego "Dark Phoenix" is. With "practically limitless" power at her disposal, it's not long before Jean loses control, killing those she loves and destroying everything around her. Now only Wolverine (Hugh Jackman, pictured) can stop her, but first he'll have to get past Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his army of furious mutants.
Jackman, Janseen and McKellen turn in strong performances, and there's some superb, eye-popping special effects.
