Pegg, Frost and Wright reteam for the final serving in the 'Three Flavours Cornetto' trilogy.
Life pretty much peaked for Gary King (Simon Pegg) in his teens, specifically the night he and his friends went on an epic pub crawl that lasted until dawn. The only thing taking the sheen off a perfect night is the fact that they didn't make it to the final stop on the route: The World's End. Now, pushing 40 and looking to recapture those glory days, Gary reunites his reluctant pals Andy (Nicholas Frost), Oliver (Martin Freeman), Steven (Paddy Considine) and Peter (Eddie Marsan) to take a second crack at the crawl.
As old tensions resurface, however, the reunion threatens to fall apart, but the outing takes a truly disastrous turn when, out of nowhere, the fate of humanity falls into the gang's fumbling hands.
The team behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz return with another brilliantly British action comedy - this time tinged with sci-fi. Though still sublimely silly, The World's End is their most mature film so far, reflecting on themes of male friendship, growing up and life fulfilment.
In a bit of a role reversal, Pegg and Frost deliver touching performances as oafish loser Gary and sensible straight man Andy and also assemble a solid ensemble of collaborators old and new, including Pierce Brosnan and Rosamund Pike.
