After bringing Middle-earth to life, Peter Jackson turned his attention to Alice Sebold's best-selling novel.
From difficult source material, Jackson's contemporary fantasy drama sees the recently deceased, fourteen-year old Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) watch the aftermath of her brutal murder from on high as her killer prepares for his next attack.
As Susie watches her family deal with her death, she attempts to communicate with them in order to help them find her missing body and warn them about her killer's future plans.
Jackson does a terrific job with much-loved and complex source material and his depiction of Susie's sometimes harrowing, sometimes beautiful, afterlife lives long in the memory.
