Mission: Impossible (1996)

This fast-paced action thriller, starring Tom Cruise, is loosely based on the vintage 1960s TV spy series. In this 1996 "big-screen" version, the team leader of an elite undercover unit tries to find out who set them up after a disastrous mission in Prague. When he is framed for the deaths of his espionage team and learns that someone is attempting to sell a list of Impossible Missions Force agents' names on the black market, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) mobilises a new unit to track down the real culprits.

Frankly it's an incredibly confusing plot, but an absorbing ride, sharply directed by Brian De Palma. The action culminates in a stunning helicopter chase through the Channel Tunnel.
