Abrasive 2004 teen comedy, starring Lindsay Lohan as Cady Heron who, having been home-schooled by her parents, is new to high school and therefore unversed on how to survive the jungle-like teen society. But befriended by two other outsiders - goth Janis (Lizzy Caplan) and gay Damian (Daniel Franzese) - she learns that Regina George (Rachel McAdams) is the queen bee of the corridors. Persuaded by her friends, Cady infiltrates Regina's hive to find out her weaknesses and bring about her downfall.
Mark Waters' (Freaky Friday) teen comedy is a cut above the rest, thanks to a strong screenplay from Saturday Night Live regular and 30 Rock star Tina Fey. Based on Rosalind Wiseman's non-fiction survival guide for young girls, Queen Bees and Wannabees, Lohan is strong in the lead role. Watch out for Tim Meadows as the scene-stealing Principal Duvall.
