Intense drama about a middle-aged man (Michael Douglas) who reaches breaking point while gridlocked in Los Angeles traffic on a sweltering day. He abandons his car and embarks on a violent spree across town, increasing his arsenal of weapons after each confrontation. A detective who is working his last day with the LAPD before retiring begins receiving reports of the various incidents - and eventually realises that one man links them all.
