This satirical action thriller, set in the world of black-market arms dealing, stars Nicolas Cage (pictured, right) as Yuri Orlov, a humble gunrunner in Little Odessa who sees a gap in the supply of illegal weaponry. Having recruited his younger brother Vitaly (Jared Leto), Yuri becomes a millionaire, supplying weapons to global trouble spots. While dealing with an African dictator, Yuri is pursued by a dogged Interpol agent (Ethan Hawke) and begins to have doubts about the morality of his profession.
Directed by Andrew Niccol and released in 2005, the film rattles along at a blistering pace, with some strong performances and terrific action sequences, but is ultimately a little soulless.
