In the post-apocalyptic hellhole Mega-City One, law is administered by the heavy hand of 'judges'.
Grizzled lawman Dredd (Karl Urban) is the best and most feared. His latest battle is against the terrible drug Slo-Mo, and his investigations lead him to a towering slum ruled by sadistic crime lord Ma-Ma's (Lena Headey). With rookie judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) by his side, he heads into Ma-Ma's stronghold, but when she unleashes scores of violent minions on the duo, their only option is to blast their way to the slum's summit and defeat her once and for all.
Despite having only a scowl to play with, a helmeted Urban puts in a great performance, while Headey also gives a winning turn. It may not be as deep as some other comic book adaptations, namely the Dark Knight trilogy, but Urban's judge, jury and executioner is a rip-roaring pleasure to behold.
