Kerry does a disappearing act, leading to speculation that David Radford may have made good on his vow to kill her - although the gangster isn't the only one with a vested interest in ensuring her silence. Smithy eventually discovers the wayward PC by her father's hospital bed and declares his love - but their chances of romance are cut cruelly short when she is struck by a sniper's bullet while returning to Sun Hill station with earth-shattering news
