Morse finds himself under suspicion when a lady friend is murdered during a dress rehearsal for a performance of Mozart's The Magic Flute. Even the loyal Lewis has his doubts when evidence incriminating Morse is discovered, but as he fights to clear his name and identify the true killer, Morse realises that his own life is in danger and that someone is out to get him.
