Kirstie and Phil help dithering doctor Ian Ensum take his first step on the property ladder. He's 33, a first-time buyer, and anxious to buy his own place after years of renting rooms in shared houses. Ian has a plan: to buy something that needs work, in an up-and-coming area, that will make money, and hopefully out-perform the market. But he can't make up his mind: if the properties aren't too small they're too big, and if they're not too finished, they're not finished enough. They eventually find something he likes; but there are quibbles over the cost: will he bite the bullet and pay the asking price or keep a tight rein on the purse strings?
