Sailor Moon (1995)

This animated series created by Naoko Takeuchi is directed by Juichi Sato and follows the stories of Serena, a total air-head, and her close friends; Amy Lita, Mina and Rei.

The story of Sailor Moon begins a very very long time ago in a place called the "Moon Kingdom", this location is now merely ancient ruins on the Moon. This was due to a war having broken out on the Moon between the royal family and the pure evil being, NegaForce. With the aid of her servants; Queen Beryl, Jedite, Nephrite, Zoicite and Malachite the evil ravaged the Moon Kingdom in search of the royal family's "Imperium Silver Crystal" which contains amazing powers and the royal family will defend it at all costs, along with the rest of the galaxy.

The Royal family consisted of the Queen of the Moon (Serenity) and her daughter, Princess Serena. In addition to this, a young Prince from Earth, with a pure soul (Darien) was in love with the Princess. Although forbidden by their societies, they still cared for one another deeply and he vowed to be her life-long protector.

Then the attack came...and destroyed the majority of the kingdom along with Princess Serena and Darien. On watching her only daughter's life slip away she called upon the power of the Crystal one last time and wished for her daughter to be reborn on Earth. The only draw back to this wish was that should evil come again then those whom she wished to be reborn must fight.

Now in the 20th century, a teenager called Serena is beginning to discover the evils that have arrived to take over the Earth as the Negaforce moves once again. She, with the help of her friends must now discover their special and unique powers and rebirth as the Sailor Soldiers (Senshi) to ward off this evil, and prevent the annhilation of the Earth and with the power of the Silver Crystal, they will try and save those that they love.

When transformed Serena becomes Sailor Moon, Amy becomes Sailor Mercury, Lita becomes Sailor Jupiter, Mina becomes Sailor Venus and finally Rei transforms herself into Sailor Mars

The fearsome group make it their duty to fight for love and justice against the evil minions of the Negaverse, The Doom Tree and the people of Nemesis (formerly known as NegaMoon). However the group can't do this all on their own and enlist the help of two talking cats, called Luna and Artemis and they also call upon the mysterious Tuxedo Mask.
