The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour comes to Montreal, Canada on 28 July - 3 August for the 2008 Rogers Cup. Founded in 1892, this event forms part of the Canada Masters series and is the third longest running women's event in the world behind the US Open and the Championships at Wimbledon. The host city alternates annually between Toronto and Montreal and carries the prestige of a Tier I event - one of 9 on the WTA tour. Prize money this year is set at US$ 1,340,000.
