Irina Slutskaya has not made any official announcement yet about her career but the chances are she should retire.
A few ladies could take over. Sarah Meier (Switzerland - 4th at the 2006 European Championships) and Elena Sokolova (Russia - 2006 European silver medallist) are probably the most able to win the European title but other champions should be close such as Susanna Pöykiö (Finland - 2005 European silver medallist) and Julia Sebestyen (Hungary - 2004 European Champion).
