Athletics: Iaaf Super Grand Prix Lausanne

One of the most famous Athletics events in the world

Ranked fifth at the 2005 IAAF Meeting rankings, the IAAG Super Grand Prix in Lausanne, Athletissima, also promises to be a real treat in 2006.

2006 marks the 31st edition of Switzerland's premier event. The event's origins however, although remarkable, are much more humble. Inaugurated on July 8th 1977 in the Pierre de Courbertin stadium, the competitions first instalment was essentially the work of middle distance runner Jacky Delapierre. In 1985 the meeting was changed to its current location, the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise.
