Established in 1786, the Northern Lighthouse Board's lighthouse keepers, along with technicians, engineers and generations of able-bodied seafarers, have kept vessels safe to navigate some of the world's most treacherous coastal waters. This documentary offers a rare glimpse into the working world of the dedicated workers who are responsible for keeping the lights on in 208 lighthouses around the coast of Scotland and the Isle of Man.
