Horizon: Malaria: Defeating the Curse

Documentary about the battle to destroy a disease that kills 3,000 people every day - malaria. For 100 years science has fought this killer disease and lost, but its latest weapons are the product of bitter cold war rivalries and of modern bio-technology. In the 1960's, China discovered a powerful new anti-malarial drug and decided to keep it a secret. This drug eventually became the basis of an entirely new attack on malaria.
