Horizon: Pandemic

This edition looks at what could happen when the next flu pandemic hits - not bird flu, but something much worse. The UK government's Influenza Pandemic Contingency Plan paints a scenario of up to 750,000 British deaths. Hospitals and emergency services will be overwhelmed and with so many deaths in such a short space of time, there will be insufficient capacity to dispose of the bodies.
