Hiro goes into the past to explore what turned Arthur Petrelli, Sylar and Flint into villains. Beginning by following Arthur, he discovers why the once-respected businessman created Pinehearst. Then, a scene unfolds where a guilt-ridden Sylar might have stopped his murderous pursuit of power. Finally, under the wing of Company man Thompson, agent-in-training Meredith watches her new life go up in smoke after the arrival of her brother Flint
