Ramblings: Ashdown Forest

Series 13, episode 2

Clare Balding visits Ashdown Forest, 10 square miles of open-access land 30 miles south of London. Many of its 1.5 million annual visitors don't understand that it's actually not a forest at all, but a heath - one of the rarest habitats in the world, rarer than tropical rainforest. Clare is joined by a group including local resident and podcaster Eka Morga, who is keen to reconnect visitors from far and wide back to the natural world of Ashdown, wildlife guide and bird mimic Tom Forward, and Kari Dunbar, whose job focuses on raising dog owners' awareness of the impact of dogs in wildlife habitats
