Open Country: The New Face of The Clyde

Series 1510, episode 0

Traditionally the River Clyde has been seen as an exit point from Glasgow. The massive shipbuilding industry and the docks meant both the ships and their goods left from the city. Glaswegians themselves only headed to the river to go on their holidays 'doon the watter' to the seaside. Matt Baker jumps aboard one of the new riverboat tours to see the city from a new perspective and discover how tradition and the new wave of business and leisure sit side by side. However, the Clyde has yet to win over some people; there have been 20 significant floods in the last century from White Cart tributary as its water levels can rise 20 feet in less than 12 hours. Matt meets residents to find out how they feel about their waterside location.
