Madonna and U2 are among the top acts performing at this years 43rd Grammy Awards, America's most prestigious music industry event, which sees a nomination for the bad boy of pop, Eminem, and a Lifetime Achievement award to go to The Who, Jayne Middlemiss presents highlights of the Awards, which are estimnated to reach a world-wide audience of nearly teo billion people in 180 countries.

The winners are revealed at a three-hour ceremony at Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday 21st February and Jayne and her team go behind the scenes to report back on all the action and catch up with some of the winners - and losers.

Among those performing at this years star-studded event are: five-times Grammy winner Madonna, who has a total of three Grammy nominations this year, including Record of the Year for "Music"; seven-times Grammy winners U2, who are nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Beautiful Day"; Destiny's Child, who are up for five Grammys; 'N Sync, who are competing with Destiny's Child in the Record of the Year category; last years Grammy-winner for Best New Artist, Christina Aguilera; Faith Hill, who has earned three nominations; country music new-comer Brad Paisley; and Dolly Parton, who has two nominations this year.

Other top nominees include Eminem, Dr Dre, Sisqo, Vince Gill, Steely Dan, Sheryl Crow, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Macy Gray and Don Henley. Actors Andy Garcia, and Kevin James, Toni Braxton and Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith are on hand to present the coveted awards, alongside Carlos Santana, Erykah Badu and Ray Romano.

Among the British nominees this year are Radiohead with "Kid A" (Record of the Year and Best Alternative Music Album); Sting with "She Walks the Earth" (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance); Paul McCartney's "Liverpool Sound Collage" (Best Alternative Music Album); William Orbit's "Pieces in a Modern Style" (Best Pop Instrumental Album); and George Michael and Bryan Ferry, bith nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for "Songs From The Last Century" and "As Time Goes By", respectively.
