Jubilee Carols (2000)

Witness the fantastic Jubilee Carols transmitted from Rowe Street Church, Wexford Town.

Taking part in this national celebration will be the Wexford Festival Singers, Wexford County Children's Choir, Bride Street Choir, Valda Chamber Choir and the Lough Garman Brass Band.

The Lough Garman Brass Band is an award-winning band founded a decade before the popular Opera Festival had even begun. Under the baton of conductor/musical director, John Clancy, the band has built up an extensive repertoire of music from Bach to big band. It has also performed throughout Ireland and Europe, featured reguarly on TV both in the UK and in Ireland, won every major indigenous banding prize, and was invited to represent Ireland in the 1997 European Band Championships - a formidable record for any band.

There will also be a number of leading soloists including soprano Toni Walsh. Adding to the exciting festive atmosphere will be traditonall hand-bell ringing and carol singers who have made Wexford carols famous throughout the country.
