Donald Macleod explores the years of 1807-1809, a time when Beethoven was feeling increasingly restless after his plans to gain financial stability were thwarted. Today he finds the composer seemingly ready to settle down as he is awarded the benefit concert he so badly wanted, only for a new job offer to leave him with a decision to make.
