The Third Reich in Colour

Now, for the first time, you can glimpse World War II history in colour.

Most people are familiar with the classic scenes of the Third Reich, captured in stark black and white film. But other, little-known, colour footage of the period exists, and has been lying in archives and private film collections for years.

It's the work of a few individuals; Hitler's mistress Eva Braun, his pilot Hans Bauer, Roosevelt's son-in-law and several German army cameramen.

Footage covers the whole twelve-year period of the war and its preliminaries, including Hitler's major debut at the 'Day of Potsdam' in 1933 and his abrupt visit to occupied Paris in 1940 - as well as intimate home movie shots with his mistress.

It also documents the execution of partisans in Yugoslavia and secret experiments with the legendary V2.
