Parnes' People

Part of BBC Radio 2's Fifties Season. Malcolm McLaren remembers Larry Parnes, the rock'n'roll manager and impresario of the late 1950s and early 1960s and inventor of the phrase 'pop music'. Born in Willesden, London, in 1930, Parnes had a vision for fashion over music and style over content that would prove vital in the era of television and the new musical genre from America known as rock 'n' roll.
