American Experience: War in the Pacific: Bataan Rescue

The story of a joint operation mounted by a US Army Ranger battalion and Filipino resistance fighters to rescue comrades who it was feared would be killed by their Japanese captors as the tide of the Pacific War turned. Although tens of thousands of American and Filipino soldiers had been taken prisoner when the Bataan peninsula fell to Japan in 1941, by 1944 the Cabanatuan camp held just 500 men, the rest having succumbed to tropical diseases and brutal treatment at the hands of the enemy.
