In a magical land of swords, sorcery and never-ending fart gags, lazy lunkhead Thadeous (Danny R. McBride) is the jealous brother of dashing older sibling Fabious (James Franco). Fabious is all set to marry his beautiful virgin girlfriend Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel) when the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux) abducts her, intending to impregnate the fair maiden with a dragon during a bizarre ritual ceremony.
Setting out on a quest to rescue Belladonna, Thadeous and Fabious blunder their way across the land, and are saved from certain death by the beautiful warrior Isabel (Natalie Portman). Recruiting her to their wayward quest, the companions must face all manner of dangers - from multi-headed monsters to naked nymphs - as they make their way through a haze of pot smoke to Leezar's den.
Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green takes the stoner comedy into uncharted realms in this gleefully crude fantasy farce. Featuring a fantastic cast that also include Charles Dance, Toby Jones and Damian Lewis, and some expensive-looking special effects, Your Highness doesn't quite have the gags to match its grandiose production values, but it certainly has its moments.
With the majority of the profanity-laden jokes improvised on set, it's inevitably a scattershot affair with as many duds as gems, but the overblown British accents from McBride and Franco go some way to ensuring the funny factor never wavers too much.
