Arguably the finest of the Sean Connery Bond films, this is a superb thriller. From its surprise opener (Bond fakes his own death, hence the title of the film), to its exotic Japanese locations, great gadgets (such as Little Nellie, the mini-helicopter, pictured), super Bond girls, an emotive John Barry theme tune, a megalomaniacal villain (cat-stroking Ernst Stavro Blofeld, brilliantly played by Donald Pleasence) and explosive final scene in a false volcano beneath a lake, it's got the works.
Bond is despatched to investigate why an American spacecraft has gone missing. This leads him to go undercover in Japan, marrying a local girl. He discovers Blofeld, a megalomaniac whose own spacecraft has swallowed up American and Russian spaceships. The villain's intention is to cause the superpowers to blame each other and declare war.
Definitely a must-see.
