This movie follows the true-life story of one of America's most famous athlete's, Steve Prefontaine.
In the 1970's Steve (Billy Crudup) won simultaneously held all seven of his country's records between 2,000 and 10,000 metres running, and inspired an entire generation.
Following his story from his early days as a youth in Oregon, then to his university years at Oregon University where he worked with the legendary coach, Bill Bowerman (Donald Sutherland) the story finally follows Steve's Olympic story when he attended the Munich Games in 1973.
Tragically however, just after being recognised as the most popular track athlete in the world at 24 years old, he was killed in a car crash.
