James McAvoy and Mark Strong star in writer-director Eran Creevy's stylish, London-set action-thriller.
The film opens at night, in London's Docklands, with Jacob Sternwood and his small, elegantly attired team of thieves fleeing their latest heist. Police officer Max Lewinsky determinedly chases them through the deserted streets until they disappear into a tunnel, at which point he's told to abandon pursuit. Ignoring the order Lewinsky proceeds, only to receive a permanently damaging gunshot wound to his knee, and a blot on his record; the criminals escape the country.
Now, three years later, Sternwood is back in Britain after his only son is involved in a botched robbery. This gives Lewinsky, now partnered by detective Sarah Hawks, a second chance to nab Sternwood. But Lewinsky's attempts to do so will have unexpected and perilous repercussions.
