Michael Winterbottom's film takes the story of a foreign correspondent, whose character is largely based on ITN correspondent Michael Nicholson, to tell the complicated story of the conflict in Bosnia. Using a mix of film, video and news footage, the film captures the conflict between everyday humdrum human existence and the sudden explosions of violence that bring home in human terms the effects of the siege.
