Up follows the touching tale of curmudgeonly 78-yearold Carl Fredricksen (Edward Asner). Carl has spent his life planning a trip to the spectacular Paradise Falls with wife Ellie, but when she passes away, he is faced with living out his days in a nursing home, never having completed their dream voyage.
So, attaching thousands of balloons to his house, Carl lifts off, intent on steering his home towards the Falls, but the grumpy pensioner is horrified to discover an unwitting stowaway on board in overeager boy scout Russell (Jordan Nagai).
Considered by many to be the peak of Pixar's achievements until the release of the even more lauded Toy Story 3, Up won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and scored a nomination for Best Picture. Also picking up an Academy Award for its memorable score, this modern classic was adored by both audiences and critics.
Directed by Bob Peterson (who also voices Dug the dog) and Peter Docter (Monsters, Inc.), Up combines laugh-outloud sight gags with genuinely tear-jerking moments, including the much-mentioned 'married life' montage.
