Drama about a successful but emotionally void journalist who finds spiritual fulfilment when he rebuilds a friendship with his dying college professor. Having seen on television that the lecturer is suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease, the former student begins visiting his mentor. As the pair collaborate in the writing of the older man's life story, the young journalist discovers a new faith in life and humankind.
