This quirky, stylish, high action thriller was written by the genius that is Quentin Tarantino.
The story follows a lonely, nerdy comic book store assistant called Clarence Worley (Christian Slater). However when he meets and marries a hooker called Alabama (Patricia Arquette) his life suddenly takes a most unexpected and exciting turn.
When Clarence tries to get a few things settled with her pimp, the ultra-sleazy Drexl Spivey (Gary Oldman), so she can be 'released, Drexl ends up dead. With the pimp out the way and probably the cops aswell, Clarence quickly grabs a suitcase of her clothes and flees the scene. Except the suitcase contains a fortune in cocaine, not laundry!
The happy newly weds decide to hit the road with the idea of selling the drugs to get enough money together in order for them to leave the country and start a brand new life together. Yet the owners of the stash are somewhat upset.
The resulting cross-country ramble is funny, violent in places and thoroughly enjoyable movie-making.
The soundtrack album for True Romance features a collection of songs from artists including Soundgarden, Charlie Sexton, John Waite, Robert Palmer and others and the original score, composed by Hans Zimmer.
