TagsTrue Lies (1994)James Cameron's 1994 comedy thriller, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis (pictured) is surprisingly good and great fun. Arnie manages to send himself up while simultaneously poking fun at the spy-film genre with this glorious parody that takes some beating. Arnie plays Harry Tasker, an 007-type spy who seems capable of wiping out vast armies of nefarious villains before popping home for tea with his wife Helen (Curtis) and family. They believe he's a computer salesman and are totally unaware of his real daytime job. So it's a major surprise when, through coincidences, Helen discovers what her husband really does. Cue tremendous spectacular action sequences as Harry and Helen join forces to save the world when Arab terrorists (led by Art Malik) threaten our very existence. Naturally it's all totally implausible hokum, a bit un-PC at times and hilarious. Recommended.
