Paul Schrader's film stars Skeet Ulrich as Juvenal, a mysterious ex-monk who carries the stigmata of Christ and can heal the sick. His powers attract TV evangelist Christopher Walken, who uses Bridget Fonda to try and ensnare him as well as fundamentalist Ton Arnold and the battle begins for the exploitation of miracles.
