Audie Murphy plays the lead in this rare example of a dramatised film about an actor's life. Murphy was famous long before his first film. He was the most decorated American soldier of WWII, including the Medal of Honor among the 27 US decorations he recieved. Amid the bravery, director Jesse Hibbs works in a little light romance with an Italian girl as well as using some of Hollywood's best character actors to play the men Murphy fought alongside.
