On a small island off the coast of Scotland, a young woman drowns herself after losing her husband at sea. The lobsters, the island's main source of trade, then disappears, leading people to believe that the woman has put a curse on the sea. As a result her daughter is banned from the school and becomes known as 'the witch's daughter'.
