An 11th-century Norman knight is sent by the duke he serves to defend a druid village. Permitted under feudal law, he takes another man's wife, who falls in love with him and has no intention of returning to her husband. However, her vengeful spouse is outraged and ignites a civil war by influencing the knight's brother to turn against him.
