The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965)

Directed by
Martin Ritt

Stark Cold War yarn about a burnt-out British agent in Berlin whose last mission is to infiltrate East German intelligence. He is recruited by an ambitious Communist operative, but his real role soon becomes all too apparent. Although not a big box-office hit in the era of James Bond and Harry Palmer, this gripping thriller brought an Oscar nomination for Burton.
