This brilliantly acted and spellbinding story, adapted from Isabel Colegate's 1980 novel, stars James Mason, John Gielgud and Edward Fox in a drama about the upper class at play on the eve of World War I.
As the war beckons, a bunch of upper-class friends get together for a weekend at a country estate; with all manner of goings-on, including shooting competitions, courting, flirting and infidelity.
It can be a bit slow-moving, but its beautifully shot and excellently acted by a cast that gives the film a touch of class.
