Jack Nicholson stars in this seminal '70s rumination on identity and violence by Michelangelo Antonioni. Bored with his life and stranded in North Africa, journalist David Locke (Nicholson) assumes the identity of a fellow hotel guest who has suddenly died. Locke soon learns that Mr Robertson, the man whose life he now lives, was working as a gunrunner and is targeted by numerous assassins. He meets a beautiful stranger (Maria Schneider) who travels with him, but the killers are on their heels.
